“Okay, it seems we’re all infected with something or other,” Max stated looking at his crew his new pair of cat ears twitching.
“You don’t say, genius,” Ani quipped his tail scratching his mane that sprouted out of his head now that somehow could.
“Oh come on guys,” Elias made, “it can’t be that bad.”
“Says the guy who got the least substantial change,” Ani went, “Other than Takumi, whose ears are minutely different other than what happened to all of us.”
Takumi rubs the back of his head a bit, "Heh... I didn't even notice..." he admitted, his ears wiggling a little bit.
Joe sat rocking back and forth, overwhelmed by the set of emotions everyone was feeling.  He himself was worried about losing his powers.
“Okay, so we should call Aero,” Max went, dialing him up and going into the other room and comes back upon finishing the call.
“We’re infected with some disease nobody’s had before,” Max stated to the rest of the crew, “Apparently, everyone who investigated the satellite was exposed, and we just had the poor fortune of everybody reacting to it.”
“Oh that’s just plain great,” Ani went, “So we were guinea pigs?  Oh yeah and let’s not forget we’re probably quarantined to interacting with other people exposed.  Absolutely perfect.”
“Well they’re making a cure as we speak, but given that it was engineered by space plague doctors, it might take a while for them to get at it,” Max explained.
“I have to help them!  I can’t lose my powers,” Joe piped up.
“We can help them by placing some of the beacons they need,” Max interjected, “We are to dock with the Atlas and get as many of these beacons as we can take.  Given they are about the size of a motorcycle according to Aero, I think we can only carry two in the Havoc Fist without me pulling some shenanigans.”
“Oh you aren’t going to suggest putting all of the satellites they have in your bag by disassembling them and pulling them out and reassembling them at the site?” Ani asked facetiously.
“I’d rather not do that given we have to do that between a bunch of enemy ships,” Max explained.
“That should have been the first thing you said about this versus worrying about the load of the ship,” Ani quipped.
“Sorry things go past my mind on what’s relevant,” Max apologized.
Ani groaned.
“Anyway who better to handle going into a region where it’s infected than those already?” Max asked sheepishly.
“How about robots?” Joe gave without a second thought.
“Oh yeah it meets all three of the D’s,” Max went, “except for the whole ‘we don’t know enough to program the AI’ part, and even if we did we’d still need the materials expertise to make the robots”
“I’m sure Kisa could handle the AI.  Kisa, can you program a robot to place beacons through a ship minefield?” Joe went.
No response from Kisa.  Joe then noticed his super powered smartwatch was not on his wrist.
“Where’s my WATCH?” Joe quivered, “Oh right, I put it on the engineering table.”
“Umm... Not to interrupt, but... what are the D’s?” Takumi asked.
“Dull, Dirty, and Dangerous,” Max answered, “They are reasons to automate something.”
“Oh …. Um, didn’t know that,” Takumi responded, "So... where exactly are we placing these beacon thingies?"
"Aero gave us coordinates," Max responded.
"So then... just random spots in space?"
"Figures..." Ani commented, "In the meantime, is there anything we can do to figure out just how much the virus will affect our abilities?"
"I'd like to know that as well," Takumi added in, "having my powers messed with... well, it scares me a bit, to say the least..."
“I’m going to postulate that at a minimum, we’re all going to be girls at some point,” Max goes, “Some of us quicker than others.  Anyway, that means if our powers our tied to our sex, then those will be modulated.  From there, it will very much depend on us individually.  Basically, take that as a very elaborate ‘I don’t know.’”
Takumi blinks. "I was kind of afraid of that... Well, I guess we'd better get to it then."
“Kisa speak to me!” Joe yelled in the other room
“Well, what do you want me to say?” she asked.
“Joe, I think you’re going to have to learn how to actually use your Watchamacallit,” Max went.
“I want to help make the cure,” Joe goes, “If I lose my powers all the way, then I’m useless.”
“Joe, you’re not useless yet, so just help us get the dang satellite beacons in their positions,” Max interjected.
Joe normally would have shrugged that off but for whatever reason, he could tell Max’s intent a lot better.
"Well then, I guess we'd better get to it," Elias said.
Soon enough, they had all made their way to the Atlas to rendezvous with Aero.
"So... where's our load?" Takumi asked.
“Each beacon is in a hangar,” He answered very curtly
“So we just park the Havoc fist next to the hangar and to put it in from there?” Max questioned.
“Indeed,” Aero gave before asking, “How many are you taking?”
“Two, that’s how many we can safely fit in storage,” Max answered
“Outstanding, take the ones out of hangars 3 and 5,” he went checking them off the list and handing Max a sheet of paper, “Here are the coordinates for your particular beacons.  Don’t lose either of them now.”
“You really think we’d do that?”
“Knowing us we’d try our damnedest but still not finish it successfully,” Ani quipped.
Max contorted his face at that.
“Please ignore Ani, He’s not exactly, cordial,” Max said as he walked back to the Havoc Fist.
“There are people I’m less cordial with than him,” Aero gave.
The Havoc Fist then started to taxi with a backup beeper going.
“Why is there a backup beeper on a spaceship?” Max yelled to no one, “Wait did I seriously go to the effort of installing it?”
Max ponders his memories for a moment
“Okay here’s the internal loudspeaker.  I’m just guessing this is for playing music.  I wonder why there’s this signal generator right by it though?”
Max‘s mind then went back to the current chain of events as the Havoc Fist parked itself and connected to the hangar.
“I sure hope I have no more problems with the ship,” Max made moving to open the door.
“Okay everyone, time to move the beacon in,” Max commanded going across the parkway.
A few minutes of the “square peg round hole” problem later.
“Screw it!” Max yelled when the beacon would not fit through the door to the main hall.
Max then used his teleport ability to move the beacon the remaining ten feet.
“Well, I know how to get the other one in the ship,” he quipped.
“You know, why didn’t you think of that in the first place?” Ani made.
“Why didn’t you suggest it?” Max retorted.
“Because I like seeing you fail like that,” Ani responded.
“I am nonplussed,” Max went.
“So um can we get to the next one?” Elias asked.
Max unlatched from the hangar to be subjected to the beeping again while he latched to the other one, walked across the latch, warped the beacon to the bay, then unlatched the ship again.
“Okay now that that is settled, where are we going?”
“Wherever that sheet Aero gave us tells us to!” Elias proclaimed.

“Okay big fat LEAR ship up ahead, I think we’re getting close, “ Max stated, “I think we should be stealthy”
“I think we should ram them.  What good is the Havoc Fist if it can’t punch things?” Elias went.
“You can’t be serious,” Max jutted.
"Um... if we do that... wouldn't the antenna break off...?" Takumi worried.
“Don’t you mean the lance of justice!?” Elias declared.
“It’s a communications antenna, Elias, it’s not meant for stabbing,” Max tried to reason.
“Use your maker hoodoo to fix it.  A broken lance is a symbol of a successful joust,” Elias made.
Max used his left hand (which was facing away from Elias) to make the cuckoo symbol.
“We’re not jousting!  We’re trying to place a freaking beacon in a certain region of space!” Max yelled.
“Um, guys? Is the ship on fire?” Takumi interjected.
“No, I just surrounded it with flames and am accelerating the ship with them straight at their vessel,” Elias explained.
“You did what?” Max incredulously asked, “How by the laws of the universe are you getting flames in space?”
"That's some pretty determined combustion.." Ani commented.
Max was left dumbfounded as he saw the LEAR ship rapidly approach the viewport trying to turn on its thrusters before the Havoc Fist then rammed it directly on the thrusters.  The fuel lines the flames hit then caused them to explode and break the ship apart.
“There we go,” Elias stated, “That wasn’t so bad.”
“Come on baby, daddy’s here now, what do you need to feel better?” Max cooed, rubbing the control panel.
The remaining ships then began to flee the area.  Apparently because of not wanting further havoc to be brought upon by Elias’s fist.
Joe comments getting his space suit on, “I’m just going to place the beacon, if you don’t mind.”
A moment later.
“It still doesn’t fit through the door,” Joe states
“I had no idea, Sherlock,” Ani quips making the beacon phase through the ship.
“Okay, I would ask how you did that, but I’m guessing it’s a kitsune thing,” Joe went
“Correct,” Ani responded doing the same thing to Joe.
Joe then places the beacon in its location.
“I can’t believe we have to do this again.  I will be incredulous if it gets anything useful considering we scared the ships away,” Max goes
“But that’s half the fun,” Elias responds.

The fedora-wearing one is worried about losing his powers? How interesting. Also, what powers?
